I am beyond excited to FINALLY share with all of you our kitchen remodel! It has been a longgg couple of months but it was definitely well worth the wait. Now that we can actually sit back and enjoy our new kitchen I thought I would share the progress with all of you! Bare with me that some pictures are not the best quality I had to get them from my Instagram stories.
For those of you who do not know, my fiancé and I bought our very first home in July. After weekends of binge watching Fixer Upper, multiple trips to Ikea, and many many Pinterest searches we came up with a vision for our new kitchen. We decided on a modern-minimalistic aesthetic. Luckily enough we both have handy dads, one of which remodels homes for a living so we had A TON of help and guidance along the way.
The original kitchen was so small and tight spaced - which meant to get the look we wanted we would have to make some big moves. The first day we moved in the renovations began, starting with knocking down walls and tearing out all the cabinets. Maybe a little ambitious for two first time home owners, but we made it work!
After the kitchen was at its bare bones we reinstalled the island moving all our storage to lower cabinets including our microwave. Once the island was secure we set in place our butcher block counter tops and installed our stove in the center of the island.
After the appliances were all installed the back splash was laid. We decided to go with subway tile and a really dark grout in the color charcoal.
I love how floating shelves not only work for storage but allow you to be creative with how you display your kitchen essentials. The second we put them up I knew I wanted my crystal champagne glasses, that are from my grandparents, to be a main focal point for display. They actually got them as a wedding present when they got married! They just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last month and to honor them and a long happy marriage my fiancé and I will be using them as our glasses at our wedding!
There’s a (wedding) easter egg in this photo. Bonus points if you can spot it!
Of course I have to take a moment and show the infamous fridge, mostly because that's all anyone ever asks me about LOL! It's the Samsung Family Hub smart fridge and yes, its just as incredible as you think it is! Some of the features include Spotify (it has a built in sound system), YouTube, live weather, internet browsing, and you can even request an Uber from it.
If you made it this far thank you SO MUCH for reading my first blog post! Remodeling a kitchen was definitely an eye opening experience and every time I look at our kitchen I will think of all the hard work it took to make this happen. Never underestimate the potential of any space!
